Sunderland v West Ham

sunderland may have played a bit better since gus took the job but they are still right in bother and with most other sides in the bottom half finding form this is a massive game. with 5 points gap to norwich and palace its probably 3 from the bottom 4. west brom(29), cardiff(26), sunderland(25), fulham(24). the squad is certainly good enough to catch west brom and get out of it but i think they may look back at di canios appointment and wonder what they were thinking off. he had no experience of top level football and didnt know how to manage the players. maybe that is why the discipline has been so poor this season- far too often crazy tackles and cards have cost them in tight games.
west ham have climbed clear with the kind of football sam knows and believes in. yes its not brilliant to watch but a midtable finish for the hammers wouldnt be that bad at all. in fact given their early season form it would be superb. this is a tough team to play against and not really the kind of side you want to face when desperate for points. hammers will play the same way packing the defence, being difficult to break down.
these odds on west ham are huge given how well the side have defended on the road this season.the best defensive performance ive seen from any side was in the draw at chelsea- it really was a fantastic effort. i think west ham are stronger at the back, on set plays and also in discipline so for that reason i go for the london club to sneak a win on the break and push sunderland even closer to the drop.
