Dundee Utd v Dundee

This looks an exciting derby game that should have plenty of chances at both ends. Utd, like Aberdeen, may yet challenge for the title if Celtic continue dropping points and struggling to find their best form. Its only 5 points gap to the champions now and we seen a terrific performance a couple of weeks back as this young Utd side gave Celtic a bit of lesson on pass and move football. Their youth system is excellent, there is also a lot of work that goes into finding the best young players from the lower divisions. Utd is a very well run club its amazing the way they continue to challenge at the top of the league while cashing on on their best young talent. This is a nice side to watch too McNamara has them playing some entertaining stuff. 31 goals scored 2nd best record, Utd have also scored 2 goals or more in 10 league games so far. Ciftci has been outstanding he is such a clever player that sets up or scores so many important goals. One area where this side aint so strong though is in the centre back positions i always feel they lack a bit of experience we have seen them gift a lot of soft goals this season. Maybe the Dee have hit a bit of a slump recently with just 1 point from 5 games but overall it has been a terrific 1st half of the season for Hartleys side. Mid-table 10 points clear of the scrap at the bottom- that is an excellent return for one of the promoted sides. Ofcourse the manager is a bit worried by recent form but its not time to panic they should be fine. I like the way Dundee play. Same as Hamilton they have not come up to stick everyone behind the ball to sneak the odd point, or just to knock it long up to a target man. Both sides have played some very nice football and Dundee in particular always play through midfield. Their attacking options are excellent, Clarkston, Stewart, Harkins, McGowan, theres goals in this side no doubt. 23 scored so far which is 10 more than Motherwell. As you would expect with most promoted sides though their defending can be a bit suspect and it was all over the place last week as struggling St Mirren won 3-1 at Dens. They are a bit too open for me at times and get caught with simple passes in behind. I expect a great game here, full house good atmosphere, 2 nice attacking sides with quite average defences. I think we will see both sides going out to win it so it should be an entertaining game. Maybe utd to win it 2-1 both to score with bluesq at 1. 82
